Please describe the problem.

I want to be able to use "normal" git commands so I'm trying a v6 repo. I have attempted to set up .gitattributes to only annex non-text mime types. When I attempt to add something that would go into the annex, the git-annex smudge command fails.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Have you had any luck using git-annex before? (Sometimes we get tired of reading bug reports all day and a lil' positive end note does wonders)

No, I'm a first-time user. Thanks for this neat piece of software.
