<p>You just need to <code>git clone</code> the existing repository and make sure the <code>git remote</code>s are setup.</p>
<p>the 'rsync remote' is not actually the annex, it's just a collection of encrypted files with obfuscated names. You need a copy of the actual repository to restore the files.</p>

<p>Until you don't have(access to) an existing repository to clone from.</p>
<p>I really hope you revisit this when you come to the encryption part of the assistant.</p>
<p>Btw, I also run FreeBSD if you need a tester on that at some point.</p>
