After updating git annex from version 6.20160613 to 6.20161011 on my Archlinux machine, the assistant crashes while scanning the files for transfer.

I'm using a v6 repository. My repositories can be synced perfectly on the command line, only the assistant keeps crashing.

Here is the daemon.log:

This bug grew to encompass several problems. I believe all of them are now fixed. Please reopen a new bug report if you see a problem like this with current git-annex. --Joey
