Please describe the problem in your own words.
Trying to "git annex get" from a SSH remote can fail when filenames contain some Unicode characters such as U+3000 IDEOGRAPHIC SPACE, which is the default whitespace character when inputting Japanese text.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
export GIT_AUTHOR_EMAIL=test@example.com GIT_COMMITTER_EMAIL=test@example.com
git init a; cd a; git annex init
echo x > 'fooćbar' # U+3000 between foo and bar
git annex add; git commit -m add; cd ..
git clone ssh://localhost$PWD/a b; cd b; git annex init
git annex get .
The last command will fail with
get "foo\343\200\200bar" (from origin...)
Transfer failed

What version of git-annex are you using? On what operating system?
git-annex version: 10.20260421 on NixOS/Linux.
Please provide any additional information below.
Claude produced this patch, which I don't understand, but when running "git annex get" with this patch succeeds, so maybe it is useful.
I understand why you included that, but git-annex has a no LLM generated code policy, so I have deleted it. It's the wrong fix in any case. I'll fix it ASAP. --Joey
Have you had any luck using git-annex before? (Sometimes we get tired of reading bug reports all day and a lil' positive end note does wonders)
I've spend the last few days migrating everything to git annex, it's wonderful!
